Would it not make more sense to use Lua syntax instead of JSON = JavaScript = yucky unreadable colons?  Not like this game uses Lua or anything, and not like Lua was originally created to be a configuration language...  It can still be text - it doesn't have to be a lua table - just not JSON.

Readability

I know formspec isn't perfect for sure ... but imho this simple example already shows WHY NOT use json for formspecs ... there's no chance to actually read that code. You always have to decode that non saying json character string. (sapier)

  • I have changed the display of the page and slightly altered the format. It is now a lot easier to read, does this seem better? (ShadowNinja)

Lua instead of JSON

Wouldn't it make more sense to use Lua syntax instead of JSON = JavaScript = yucky unreadable colons? Not like this game uses Lua or anything, and not like Lua was originally created to be a configuration language... It can still be text - it doesn't have to be a lua table - just not JSON.
